YCDC reports 377 dengue cases, one death; expands prevention efforts

According to the dengue fever prevention coordination meeting of the Public Health Department under the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) held on 12 June, there were 377 dengue cases and one death between January and May 2024.
In 2023, preventive measures for dengue fever were systematically implemented in 74 staff buildings. Dr Ngwe San, a member of the Yangon City Development Committee, emphasized the necessity of combating mosquitoes and mosquito larvae and taking systematic disease prevention measures.
In the Yangon Region, Dagon Myothit (South) Township has the highest incidence of the disease, followed by Mayangon Township.
Dr Ngwe San also stated that dengue fever prevention activities are expanded to schools and housing estates in various townships. — TWA/TKO
