The Yangon City Development Committee is implementing a training programme for garbage collection vehicle drivers using a computer simulation system.
The training spans four weeks, with 30 participants enrolled each week. The comprehensive course includes theoretical and practical instruction on conducting ground cleaning activities, vehicle essentials, maintenance procedures, adherence to traffic rules and regulations, and engine maintenance for the garbage trucks in use.
In Yangon, the Final Disposal Site (FDS) receives approximately 2,500 tonnes of waste daily. The city is committed to achieving zero waste, aligning with international standards. Initiatives such as waste composting, generation of gas from garbage, and material recycling are being actively pursued to fulfil this goal. — TWA/KZW
