Yangon United secured a 2-1 narrow win over Chin United in their first match of the MPT Myanmar National League 2020 yesterday at the Yangon United Sports Complex in Yangon.
Chin United, who were relegated from Myanmar National League II, showcased their best style in yesterday’s match against Yangon United.
Faced with the massive defense put up by Chin United, Yangon United found it hard to score their leading goal.
With stylish play, Yangon United earned their first goal at 24 minutes, and the goal was scored by striker Than Paing over an assist from teammate Maung Maung Lwin.
Chin United soon equalized the score with a goal by Kyaw Min Than just before the end of the first half.
Yangon United made substitutions in the second half, putting Emmanuel and Yan Paing Soe in place of Barfo and Kaung Htet Soe.
Even though they employed fresh tactics and new players, Yangon United still found it hard to score more goals as Chin United put up a strong defense.
Yangon United missed a scoring opportunity at 63 minutes when the Chin United goalkeeper blocked Than Paing’s goal attempt.
Yangon United’s Emmanuel scored the winning goal for the team at 83 minutes, with an assist from Nyein Chan Aung.
At the final whistle, Yangon United was leading by one goal.
After their first match, Yangon United is in the third place on the standing table with three points, and the team will next play Zwekapin United on 19 January at Thuwunna stadium.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
