Yangon River’s water level on 15 August.

The Myanma Port Authority has issued a warning that the Yangon River may experience an extraordinary tide of up to 21.65 feet.
The extraordinary tide is expected to rise from about 20.44 feet to 21.65 feet from the datum between 19 and 25 August. However, in 2014-2015, the water level in the Yangon River had risen to a height of 22 feet from the datum. Therefore, there is no cause for concern, according to the statement.
The Myanma Port Authority has informed that when the estimated tidal height of the Yangon River exceeds 20 feet from the datum, the people living near the river banks should prepare in advance.
Similarly, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology issued a flood warning at 14:00 hours on 15 August 2024. According to the Myanmar Standard Time 13:30 time measurement, the Sittoung River water level in Toungoo Township was more than 1.5 feet (52 centimetres) below the danger level of 19.69 feet (600 centimetres) in the town. The water of the river may reach the danger level of the city within the next two days; therefore, people living near the river bank and in low-lying areas in Toungoo Township are advised to be extra cautious. — TWA/TKO
