Yangon Region Central Thingyan Pandal, region-level departmental and entertainment pandals to be constructed at People’s Square

The Yangon Region Central Thingyan Pandal, region-level departmental and entertainment pandals will be set up at People’s Square, said U Bo Htay, chairman of Yangon City Development Committee during the meeting on holding of Myanmar Traditional Water Festival on 4 March.
“Yangon Region Central Thingyan Pandal, region-level departmental and entertainment pandals will be constructed at People’s Square this year to ensure the safety of the public and the Yangon Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pandal will be in front of the City Hall to express the tradition of Thingyan festival,” he added.
He continued that the festival will include district-level pandals, entertainment of dance troupes and award-giving ceremonies. Therefore, the working committee or sub-committee should cooperate to be able to hold the Thingyan festival successfully.
The film, music and theatrical artistes will perform at Yangon Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pandal. The dance competition of university-level, basic-education-level, primary-level, departmental-level and freelance dance troupes in addition to ethnic traditional dance will be conducted at the same Thingyan pandal.—TWA/KTZH
