Yangon United defeated Yadanabon FC 3-1 at the semifinal match of the Myanmar National League Cup 2024 semifinal played at Youth Training Centre in Thuwunna in Yangon yesterday.
As soon as the game started, Yangon United dominated the opponents. Yadanabon FC, which is less skilled than the previous Myanmar National League season, had to rely on counterplay and made some mistakes in the back. By taking advantage of the Yadanabon defenders who lost focus, Gideon Tetteh opened a goal for team Yangon at the 10-minute mark.
But, with a quick counterattack, Yadanabon’s Sitt Mone scored an equalizer at 20 minutes to make the result 1-1. Both teams were tied at the interval.
In the second half, Yadanabon’s players, whose skills and enthusiasm rose, were able to respond fiercely to the Yangon’s players. The second goal for team Yangon was seen at 69 minutes as Gideon Tetteh created a beautiful goal amid the massive defence line. Again, Yan Kyaw Htwe produced the third and leading goal for team Yangon at 76 minutes.
At the final whistle, Yangon United garnered a 3-1 victory over Yadanabon to advance to the final of the Myanmar National League Cup 2024. In turn, Myanmar National League defending champion Shan United will face Dagon Star United in the other semifinal match of the Myanmar National League Cup at Thuwunna UTC in Yangon at 4 pm today. — GNLM
