The final group match of the 2026 World Cup Asia Zone second-round qualifiers will be held in Laos, where Myanmar will face North Korea.
The North Korean team was initially scheduled to play all three games in the second round of World Cup qualifiers at home. However, the match against the Japanese team versus North Korea, expected to be played on 26 March, was postponed by the North Korean side when the match day was approaching, so FIFA awarded the Japanese team a 3-0 win.
The North Korean team had two remaining group games to play, and it was not convenient to host both of these games at home, so they decided to play in Laos.
The North Korean team will play against the Syrian squad on 6 June and the Myanmar team on 11 June. In the first round of the meeting, the North Korean team defeated the Syrian squad 1-0 and won the Myanmar team by 6-1.
In Group B of the second round of World Cup qualifiers, Japan is leading with 12 points, Syria securing seven points, and North Korea collecting three points, but Myanmar is gaining only one point. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
