Waso robes donated to venerable Sayadaws to mark first anniversary of consecration for Maravijaya Buddha Image

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing offered Waso robes and alms at the ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the consecration for Maravijaya Buddha Image, which took place at Aggadhipati Sasana Beikman in the precinct of Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Before the ceremony, the Senior General offered alms in the alms bowl, fruits, flowers, water and oil lights to the Maravijaya Naungdawgyi Buddha Image in the Beikman.
Presiding Patron of Paukmyaing Monastery from Lewe Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru Bhaddanta Janinda administered the Five Precepts before members of the Sangha recited Metta Sutta.
The Senior General donated Waso robes and offerings to Paukmyaing Sayadaw.
SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win also offered Waso robes and donations to Presiding Patron of Maha Thihanada Monastery of Tatkon State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru Bhaddanta Acinna.
The SAC Secretary, the Joint Secretary, council members and Union-level dignitaries donated Waso robes and alms to members of the Sangha.
Presiding Patron of Pyinmana’s Pali Tekkatho Mingalazeyon Monastery Aggamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits.
Also present at the ceremony were Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and attendees offered day meals to members of the Sangha.
The Maravijaya Buddha Image was carved with the aim of showing the flourishing of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar to the international community, to ensure Myanmar is the hub of Theravada Buddhism, forge the prosperity of the State and foster peace and prosperity in the world. The image was consecrated on Dhammacakka Day, which fell on the full moon of Waso 1385 ME, whereas stone plaque chamber pagodas were hoisted umbrellas at the merit-sharing ceremony.
