University rectors share academic experiences

The Rectors’ Committee of the National Education Policy Commission organized an event yesterday morning to share experiences of its members.
Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi attended the occasion taken place at Mandalay University Convocation Hall, and made a key note speech.
“Social harmony and mutual trust are important for diverse community in 21st century. Development of artificial intelligence technology and the consequences of weather deterioration are demanding life-long learning for quality education and capacity,” he said.
The Trends Shaping Education 2019 report of The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has concluded that Asian region or neighbouring countries of Myanmar are developing to become global economic powers, he said
The Union Minister also remarked a quality education system is required to encounter the emerging challenges such as globalization, democracy, security, increase in aging population and the trends of 21st century.
Pyithu Hluttaw Education Promotion Committee Chairman Dr Tin Aung and the Rectors’ Committee Chairman Dr Zaw Wai Soe made opening remarks on the event.
Rector Dr Saw Pyone Naing from Sagaing Institute of Education discussed the topic titled ‘Teaching for Tomorrow’, Rector U Kyaw Swa Soe from University of Computer Studies (Mandalay) about ‘Effect of Digitalization on Higher Education’, Professor Dr Maung Maung Naing from Yadanabon University about ‘Internationalization for Higher Education’, Rector Dr Kyi Soe from West Yangon Technological University about ‘University link for Industry Engagement’, Rector Dr Sint Soe from Mandalay Technological University about ‘Comprehensive University’, Rector Dr Kyi Shwin from Yangon University of Foreign Language about ‘Internal Quality Assurance’, and Rector Dr Zaw Wai Soe from Yangon University of Medicine (1) about ‘Research Capacity Building in Universities’. The participants then discussed the topics in sub-groups, and exchanged the results, followed by adopting future plans.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
