Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn inspects islands in Kawthoung

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Maung Maung Ohn made an inspection tour to the islands in Kawthoung District, Taninthayi Region on 15 May.
The Union Minister inspected the Nyaung Oo Phe island seen with coral reefs located about 50 feet from the shore. Many local and international tourists come and do snorkelling at its six snorkelling sites, trekking and hiking, and enjoying the sunset. The island is in the Zardetgyi village-tract, and TZK Company Limited runs a hotel business there.
During his visit to the fork island, responsible persons explained the hotel business to be run on the island. The fork island is a popular tourist destination for cruise ships and motorboats and a hiking area for tourists to enjoy bird watching and explore the scuba diving sites around the island and underwater beauty.
The Union Minister also toured the snorkelling sites near Lal Lwe Lay Lone island, Thahtay Kyun hotel, Cape Bayint Naung, 555 Hill, Pulone Tone Tone bridge, hotel operation of the Victoria Cliff Hotel and organic farm in the hotel compound.
Apart from marine tourism activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, exploring mangroves and relaxing on the island’s beaches, plans are underway in order to develop new destinations for tourists in Myeik Archipelago, Kawthoung District, Taninthayi Region. —MNA
