Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi makes inspection tour in Yangon

Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi yesterday inspected large seedlings in the permanent nursery established by the Department of Forest in Insein Township, Yangon Region.
The Union Minister inspected the operation of the Myanma Timber Enterprise’s headquarters and Yangon Region Department of Forest and met with the staff.
At the meeting, the Managing Director and the General Managers explained the implementation of the Myanma Timber Enterprise’s objectives and future plans in the 2020-2021FY.
The Union Minister instructed them to achieve the objectives of the 2020-2021FY according to the departments in Myanma Timber Enterprise, open training courses for the staff capacity-building as the timber extraction will be stopped for one year in the 2021-2022FY, continue the success of Enrichment Planting-EP, to maintain teak/hardwood plantations established by the Myanma Timber Enterprise and continue plantation, pay special attention to the development of the finished wood sector in the wood-based industry, strictly follow the climate change policy and focus on environmental protection as it is a national duty.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister inspected the air quality meter at the Director’s office of the Department of Environmental Conservation in Botahtaung Township. At the meeting, officials explained the activities for environmental conservation in Yangon Region, environmental conservation activities of the One-Stop Services of the Myanmar Investment Commission and Thilawa Special Economic Zone.
