The ASEAN-Russian Federation Summit on Security Affairs was virtually held yesterday and Union Minister for the Union Government Office Lt-Gen Yar Pyae joined the meeting.

The ASEAN-Russian Federation Summit on Security Affairs was virtually held yesterday and Union Minister for the Union Government Office Lt-Gen Yar Pyae joined the meeting.
During the meeting, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and Acting Deputy for Foreign Policy Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Dr Pribadi Sutino of Indonesia respectively made an opening speech. Then, the officials discussed the political and security affairs of the ASEAN-Pacific regions.
Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae also discussed the establishment of proper bilateral relations with ASEAN members countries, their partner countries including Russian Federation after the country became a member of ASEAN in 1997, reliable and strategic partner of Russian Federation, acceleration of political and security cooperation relations between Myanmar and Russian Federation and the united goals for political policies and security affairs in Asia-Pacific region.
The Union Minister then talked about the importance of bilateral relations with the Russian Federation for security challenges, maritime security, energy, terrorism, drugs, illegal migration, human security and food security, the draft of the 2008 Constitution, holding of the free and fair general election in 2010 and transfer of power to the election-winning party.
He also said the 2015 General Election winning party banned the rights of democracy including media freedom and Myanmar kyat prices declined and the community prices were high due to their wrong economic policies.
Moreover, there were election frauds in the 2020 General Election for the winning of one party by using any illegal methods. There was no trust in democracy and the election system for such electoral fraud. However, the winning party recognized the election results and tried to convene Hluttaw. Therefore, Tatmadaw inevitably took power on 1 February and the State Administration Council maintained the state stability.
He then highlighted the acts of terrorism conducted by the insurgents starting 28 February, the illegal formation of CRPH led by the 2020 election-winning party to do anti-government activities, the establishment of parallel government NUG by CRPH to communicate the international countries and ASEAN to affect the diplomatic relations of SAC and occur the recession.
He also explained the five-point road map of SAC which includes the fact “ Upon accomplishing the provisions of the state of emergency, free and fair multiparty democratic elections will be held in line with the 2008 Constitution, and further work will be undertaken to hand over State duties to the winning party as per democratic standards.”
The Union Minister also added that Myanmar is a country with various ethnic groups and so SAC is making efforts to achieve a Union based on the democracy and federation system that all the people want in addition to the development of political affairs, economy and social status. Moreover, Tatmadaw has still a responsibility to ensure democracy and not to lead to one-party dictatorships. So, it concludes the NCA with the ethnic armed groups and holds the political discussions.
As one of the partner countries of the world countries, Myanmar is still cooperating with other countries for political and security measures in Asia-Pacific region. The current situations of the country are controlled under the law and it will not affect the security of ASEAN and Asia-Pacific region.
The Union Ministry finally pledged that the country is ready to cooperate in conducting political and security measures in ASEAN regions.
The meeting came to an end with the concluding remarks of Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev and Acting Deputy for Foreign Policy Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Dr Pribadi Sutino. —MNA
