Union Industry Minister inspects MSME businesses, industrial development

Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than visited the Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department in NyaungU District, Mandalay Region, on the evening of 3 August 2024.
During the visit, the district head of department provided an overview of the industrial activities and support for MSME (Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Enterprises) development in NyaungU. The Union minister emphasised the need to address the demands of entrepreneurs, strengthen connections with partner organizations, improve the industrial sector’s contribution to the district’s net production value, and solve employee submissions.
The following morning, a meeting with MSME entrepreneurs was held at the NyaungU District Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department office.
At the meeting, the Union minister highlighted that there are 355 private industries registered in NyaungU District, with 402 MSME businesses. The district has included black bean paste and lacquer industries in the One Region-One Product scheme. He encouraged entrepreneurs to collaborate with the regional MSME agency and engage in the production plans for the designated regional products.
The MSME Development Fund is being prepared to issue loans to entrepreneurs. Advertisements for loan applications have been published in State-owned newspapers on 10 January and 31 March. An MSME Web Portal has been established for online registration, information access, and application. Additionally, the ASEAN Access Web Portal is being used to enhance digital technology usage. The MSME Work Committee plans to organize an MSME product exhibition competition in Nay Pyi Taw by the end of 2024.
The Union minister toured several enterprises, including Myinpyan Soya Bean Paste Industry, Shwe Family Oil Mill, U Ba Nyein’s Lacquer Industry, Tun Lacquer Industry, Sankee Fried Potato and Bean Industry, and Zabu Aye Oil Mill in Kyaukpadung Township. — MNA/TKO
