UEC Chair examines Akha National Development Party’s activities in line with Political Parties’ Registration Law

Union Election Commission Chairman U Thein Soe met the patron, chairperson, and members of the Akha National Development Party, and inspected the party’s processes at the local battalion guest house yesterday.
The party, located at No 281, Akha Market Street, Wainekyauk Ward, Tachilek, Shan State (East), have already received the right to register on 8 May 2023 under the laws and regulations on the registration of political parties.
During the meeting, the UEC chairman emphasized to the patron, chairman and members of the Akha National Development Party to reach 1,000 party members within 90 days from the date of allowing the registration of political parties under the laws and regulations.
He stated that party offices should be opened in at least five townships in the state within 180 days, and party flags and the logo should be properly implemented following the requirements.
He also ordered that the party’s financial rules and regulations be developed following the instructions and that party officials communicate with the relevant departments of Immigration and Population so that the trifold national identification cards held by the party members can be replaced with citizenship verification cards.
He stressed that representatives of the respective parties must be elected in the elections to be held with the proportional representation system (PR), and they should work hard to get the right to participate in the state legislative and administrative sectors.
After that, party officials re-explained the working conditions of the party.
