Two ancient Nat (spirit) statues, which had gone lost from Yadana Gu Nat house located in Mandalay Region’s Amarapura Township, were returned stealthily  by thieves more than 10 days later, in-charge of the Nat house, Ko Min told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).

The two ancient masterpiece Nat statues are Popa Medaw statue and Thakhin Matha statue and were stolen from central section of Yadana Gu Nat house on 24 May. Thieves left them stealthily in a cardboard box in front of Ko Min’s house on 7 June at 3:00am.

“I found statues in a cardboard box left on the bench under the tree in front of my house at 3 o’ clock on this morning. They are wooden statues in gold plated. They are antique statues from Popa Medaw Nat house. We worship these statues from generation to generation,” said Ko Min.

At present, the Nat statues will be worshiped at his house and will be brought back to the Nat house on 18 June with ceremony after gold plated. And Medaw welcome celebration which holds every year will be continued to take place.

Yadana Gu festival is one of the well-known festivals in Myanmar and the stolen Nat statues are prestigious.
