Temporary road closures in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw for 76th Independence Day celebration

During the celebration of the 76th Anniversary of Independence Day on 4 January, certain roads in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw will experience temporary closures.
Traffic lanes will be closed from 4:00 am until the conclusion of the ceremony at People’s Square in Yangon Region.
The Yangon Region Government advises that vehicles travelling from north to south along Pyay Road should turn right at the Myaynigon traffic light and proceed to Lower Kyimyindine Road. Vehicles travelling from south to north on Pyay Road should turn onto University Avenue, then proceed through Baho Road and Alon Road to reach Lower Kyimyindine Road.
In addition, the national flag-hoisting and saluting ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area will take place at City Hall Square. Consequently, traffic in Nay Pyi Taw Zabuthiri Township will be temporarily closed or detoured from 2 am to 8 am, starting from the Municipal Guest House traffic light on Pyinmana-Taungnyo Road to the traffic light at the corner of Thabyaygon Market.
For those using vehicles on those days in Zabuthiri Township, the traffic restrictions will be in effect from the Municipal Guest House traffic light on Pyinmana-Taungnyo Road to the Shwekyapin traffic light along Tawwin Yadana Road. The Nay Pyi Taw Traffic Enforcement Supervision Committee has also issued a notice for drivers approaching from the traffic light at the intersection of Thabyaygon market corner along Padauk Road and heading towards Ayeyawady Road. — TWA/KZW
