Tax is key for a modern, developed nation, says DPM MoPF Union Minister

Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein presided over a coordination meeting on the implementation of work plans of the Union-Level Supporting Team for Tax Collection in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
First, the Union minister clarified the formation of the committee, Section 389 of the 2008 Constitution: “Every citizen has the duty to pay taxes to be levied according to the law, taxes collected by the ministries under table (1) and taxes collected by regions/states under table (5)”.
He also highlighted the directives of the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister to expand the tax space and not to increase the tax rate, the duties of supporting teams for tax collection, key channels for the state budget, and strict supervision of tax levies.
He then urged the attendees to supervise the taxation departments to levy the tax in full as it is the main financial support for the emergence of a modern and developed country and also for the socioeconomic development that is essential for the entire people.
Then, Deputy Minister U Min Htut, Secretary of the Union-Level Supporting Team for Tax Collection, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, region and state chief ministers and Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Toe Yi and Deputy Minister U Min Min explained the work plans of the team, rice, cooking oil, fuel, exports, imports and effective measures to collect taxes in full. — MNA/KTZH
