Tamway Township court sentences 69 offenders for online fraud targeting foreigners

On 31 July, Tamway Township Court sentenced 69 offenders to various penalties for their role in fraudulently obtaining personal information of foreigners online.
Authorities discovered that Support Fix Company, located at 5-19 building in U Chit Maung Housing on U Chit Maung Street in Tamway Township, was fraudulently gathering personal information from foreigners to scam them online, using staff from Zhan Tu Company.
Lau Fa (aka Zhu Zhang), along with six Chinese nationals, were charged under Sections 33(a)/38 of Electronic Transactions Law. Ma Moe Moe Kyi and others 63 were charged under Sections 66(c)/73. Offenders were sent to Tamway Township Court on 19 December 2023. Additionally, Lau Fa (aka Zhu Zhang) and Zhang Yui (aka Wu Kung) were charged under Sections 420 and 468 of the Penal Code.
Tamway Township Court sentenced six individuals, including Lau Fa (aka Zhu Zhang), to seven years of imprisonment with labour under Sections 33(a)/38 of the Electronic Transactions Law. Sixty-three individuals, including Ma Moe Moe Kyi, were sentenced to three years of imprisonment with labour under Sections 66(c)/73 of the Electronic Transactions Law. Furthermore, two individuals, including Lau Fa (aka) Zhu Zhang, were sentenced to seven years of imprisonment with labour under Sections 420 and 468 of the Penal Code. — TWA/MKKS
