Subversive media spread misinformation alleging Tatmadaw opened fire on the Htanaung village market in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region, killing 11 local people and injuring 10 on 13 August.
According to an official in Monywa Township and a resident, security forces who were carrying out security measures in Monywa Township were attacked by terrorists from a distance with hand-made weapons, drop-bombs, rockets, and heavy weapons. Malicious media that support terrorists are circulating false claims through social media to cover up terror acts and misrepresent the military.
Similarly, subversive media also fabricated stories claiming that security forces in KhinU Township, Sagaing Region, fired heavy weapons into villages in KhinU Township on 11 August, killing an elderly woman, and security forces in Longlon Township, Taninthayi Region, fired heavy weapons at villages in Longlon Township on 12 August. — MNA/TKO
