Strict penalties imposed for dumping garbage in drains, creeks, and rivers

The Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) has announced that fines, imprisonment, or both will be imposed on those who dispose of garbage in drains, creeks, and rivers in Yangon Region.
Notice panels bearing the message “Effective action will be taken for throwing garbage into the drain” have been erected near drains and creeks in Latha Township, Dala Township, Dagon Township, Yankin Township, Seikkyi Khanaungto Township, Lanmadaw Township, Pazundaung Township, and Hlinethaya (East) Township. This initiative aims to improve the cleanliness and beauty of the city and enhance the water flow in Yangon.
Violating this prohibition will result in a fine ranging from K50,000 to K300,000, up to three months in prison, or both. — TWA/TKO
