Small-scale livestock breeding zone emerged in Taunggyi

A small-scale livestock breeding zone is being established on 659 acres of land in Taunggyi Township of Shan State, according to Dr Aung Tun Min, Head of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (Taunggyi Township).
A total of 11 entrepreneurs breed 480 dairy cows, 2,000 meat cattle and 1,000 local cows in the modern livestock farm zone.
“We started to implement this small-scale modern livestock farm zone in March. The location is in Kyaukni agriculture farm in Kunlong Village-tract of Taunggyi Township. It covers 659 acres of land. It set 499.86 acres for breeders to construct livestock farms. We will use the remaining land as pastureland. Eleven entrepreneurs started operating breeding processes in October,” said Dr Aung Tun Min.
Entrepreneurs must run their breeding businesses within two years and they must plant and reap the plants for animal feed in the zone aiming to reduce the herding system in the region gradually. — ASH/KTZH
