Sixth Meeting of ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions continues

The last day of the 6th ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) Senior Officials’ Meeting was held yesterday with a videoconference hosted by Malaysia.
The meeting was attended by representatives led by senior officials from ten ASEAN countries.
Permanent Secretary, Director-General, Deputy Permanent Secretary and relevant officials joined the virtual conference from the meeting hall of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Union in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, the date for the 6th ASEANSAI Summit of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations was approved by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Union which will chair the ASEANSAI for the next two years.
Next, senior officials from each member country discussed the appointment of the Vice-Chairman of the Office of the Auditor-General, for the next two years, and the role of the chairmen who will head the various committees.
Then, officials discussed financial statements for 2020 and 2021 (draft), appointing an auditor to audit these financial statements, budget plan for the next two years, financial auditing as per International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI) and compliance check.
To be able to carry out operational inspection effectively, officials exchanged views on cooperation with partner organizations such as the World Bank and the German International Cooperation Agency, European Union, Office of the Auditor-General of Sweden, which provides financial and technical assistance and office of the Auditor-General of Norway INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) respectively.
In the afternoon, the Director-General of the Office of the Auditor-General of Malaysia Dr Sayed Alwee gave an introductory speech and Principal Assistant Director Mrs Azizah Daud shared her experiences and suggestions as a chair of ASEANSAI.
Afterwards, officials from the Secretariat explained the roles and responsibilities of the Office of the Auditor-General, Office of the Secretary-General and Office of the Secretary-General, respectively.
During the 6th Meeting of the ASEANSAI, Senior officials from the member states agreed on the next date of the 6th Summit of the Office of the Auditor -General of Southeast Asia and also discussed the future plan. — MNA
