Defending champions of the Myanmar National League, Shan United F.C., won the MFF Charity Cup 2020 yesterday by a 2-1 margin over Yangon United at the Yangon United Sports Complex in Yangon.
With both teams equally skilled, the first half ended with a scoreless result.
The winning goals for Shan United were scored in the second half by Keith at 57 minutes and Ye Min Thu at 74 minutes.
The consolation goal for Yangon United was scored by substituted player Yan Paing Soe at 77 minutes.
The stadium was packed with fans for yesterday’s charity match. The entrance fee and donations collected amounted to K15 million. All the proceeds will go to orphanages in Myanmar, according to the Myanmar National League.
Before the match, there were entertainment programs by famous singers: R Zar Ni, Phyo Gyi, Hel Lay, Moe Moe, Hlawn Paing, Yone Lay, Wai Lyan, and the Art Robots Music Band.
All the artistes and singers performed for free as the match was a charity one, said a source with the Myanmar National League.
Also, during the break time after the first half of the match, a lucky draw was held for football fans.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
