Myanmar club Shan United is allowed to compete in the 2024-2025 ASEAN Club Championship and will compete against Brunei football club in the qualifying play-off stage.
The qualifying play-off matches will be held in mid-July, and Shan United will take on Brunei’s Kasuka FC. Shan will play away match on 17 July and home match on 24 July.
The Shan United team will only be allowed to advance to the final stage if they can overcome the Kasuka FC. Similarly, Lao club Young Elephant team will take on Cambodian club Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng as a knockout match.
If the Shan United team succeeds in qualifying, they will place in Group A with football clubs from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Since Shan United won the championship in the Myanmar National League Cup title, the first domestic competition this season, they will have to compete in two foreign competitions including AFC Challenge League. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
