Shan, Thitsa Arman triumph in MNL matches

The sixth fixture of the Myanmar National League-MNL 2024-2025 season continued yesterday, with current champions Shan United, Hanthawady United, and Thitsa Arman all securing victories.
At Taunggyi Stadium, Shan United defeated ISPE FC 3-0. Despite a setback against Yangon in the fifth round, the reigning champions made a strong comeback this week, securing full points and maintaining their lead at the top of the table.
Shan United made several changes to their lineup, including using four foreign players for the first time. The first half saw both teams actively attacking, with Shan United scoring their opening goal in the 26th minute. Khun Kyaw Zin Hein’s assist led to a goal by forward Rintaro da Silva. Shan United led 1-0 at halftime and continued to control the game in the second half. Myo Ko Tun scored their second goal in the 56th minute, and the third goal came from midfielder Mark Sekyi in 69 minutes. The best player award went to Shan United’s forward, Rintaro. After this match, Shan United leads with 16 points from six games, while ISPE FC has nine points from six games.
At Pathein Stadium, Hanthawady United won 1-0 over Ayeyawady United. Hanthawady remains a strong contender, keeping pace with current champions Shan United. The winning goal for Hanthawady was scored by Aung Myat Thu from a penalty in the 90+1 minute. The best player award went to Hanthawady United’s goalkeeper Nay Lin Htet. Hanthawady United now has 16 points from six games, while Ayeyawady United has four points from six games.
At Thuwunna Youth Training Centre, Thitsa Arman achieved their first win of the season with a 6-0 victory over Rakhine United. Thitsa Arman, who had been struggling at the bottom of the table, finally secured a win and climbed out of the relegation zone. Goals were scored by Thein Tun Aung at 4th minute, Lin Htet Oo at 19, 24, 31 minutes, Sow Myo Zaw at the 58th minute, and Naing Win Tun at the 67th minute respectively. The best player award went to Lin Htet Oo, who scored a hat-trick. Thitsa Arman now has three points from six games, while Rakhine United remains at the bottom with one point from six games.
The third day of the sixth round will continue today at Thuwunna YTC, featuring a match between Yadanabon FC and Yangon United. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
