Myanmar U-22 men’s football team celebrated a 2-0 victory over host Cambodia during the Group A match of the XXXII SEA Games Men’s Football Event held at Cambodian National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia yesterday.
The Myanmar team lost to Indonesia team in the previous group match, so they opened this match with all attacking power.
With strategic play, Myanmar produced a stunning opening goal even at 12-minute mark by star player Hein Htet Aung.
After the icebreaker, team Myanmar continued to attack and the second or winning goal was beautifully scored by Thet Hein Soe in the 38 minute.
Team Myanmar dominated the first half by two goals.
The Cambodian team, led by coach Honda, played enthusiastically to get equalizers in the second half but Myanmar’s counter-play was effective again in the last minutes.
In the final whistle, Myanmar celebrated a 2-0 victory over host team. As a result of the win, the Myanmar team was one step closer to advancing to the next round. Team Myanmar will take on the Philippines on 10 May for a decisive play. — KZL
