A roundtable discussion on the benefit of upcoming election in Myanmar, current political situations and economic conditions was held on 21 July in Yangon and attended by personnel from politics and economics.
The talk titled “Current Domestic Instability due to Political, Economic and Social Situations, and Benefits of Election” took place from 2 to 4 pm at the Orchid Hotel, Botahtaung Township, Yangon Region.
The moderator was U Win Maw (Shwe Thanzin) while participants in the discussion included U Kyaw Thu Aung, general secretary of National Political Alliances Party, economist U Than Soe (Economics), U Thein Tun Oo, executive director of the ThayNinGa Institute for Strategic Studies and ex- 88 student leader U Nyo Tun.
They discussed the merits of the upcoming election, recent developments in economic sector, suggestions, security situation and the need for public cooperation.
In addition, the participants talked on the role of public engagement in the election, advantages of the Proportional Representation (PR) System, and proper/improper ways regarding external attempts to influence.
Some personalities from politics including U Zozam, a veteran politician, and ex-MP Daw Khin Waing Kyi, and members of media attended the discussion.
