RFA Burmese accuses prison staff of beating female inmates

RFA Burmese spread false stories on its Facebook page, claiming that about 20 female prisoners were beaten at Insein Central Prison on 25 July.
According to the investigation, these four female inmates from women’s prison Cell 1 did not sleep on 20 July, although the prison fixed the sleep schedule at 9 pm. Therefore, the prison official told them to sleep, but they did not follow. Four prisoners slept after being warned many times.
Moreover, on 21 July, two out of four inmates treated the prison staff rudely and said they did not follow the rules. Therefore, they were placed separately, and they were not beaten.
They are not suffering from certain diseases and are in good condition. The prison staff beat none of them, and the RFA Burmese attempted to mislead the people. — Wai Wai Phyo/KTZH
