Respect paid to senior comedians, comedian awards to outstanding artistes

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn presents gifts to veteran comedians at the Plenary Hall of MICC II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The Myanmar Comedians’ Association (Central) organized its 14th respect-paying ceremony to veteran comedians at the Plenary Hall of MICC II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the event, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn appreciated the efforts of the new generation of comedians for organizing such a ceremony to honour their mentors, urging them to preserve this noble practice. The Union minister also acknowledged the role of comedians in bringing joy and goodwill to the public, as well as mentoring younger comedians. He emphasized that comedians, who alleviate pain and bring happiness, play a crucial role in society. Therefore, he encouraged comedians to continue entertaining people and spreading happiness with their skills. Additionally, the Union minister recognized the senior comedians for their involvement in charitable and artistic activities, despite their advanced age.
Next, U Dein Daung, Chairman of the Myanmar Comedians’ Association, expressed gratitude on behalf of the association before initiating the Excellent Comedy Awards Ceremony.
Members of the Myanmar Comedians’ Association (Central) entertained the guests with the association’s theme song, before a documentary video showing the emergence of the association is shown.
During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun presented the Excellent Comedian Awards and certificates of Excellent Social Work to outstanding comedians. He also honoured U Dein Daung with a gift. Next, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint recognized the artistes who received the Excellent Comedian Award and the Excellent Supporting Comedian Award. Following that, the Union Minister presented the Excellent Comedy Creation Awards to four artistes.
Afterward, the young comedians paid respect to the elderly. The Union minister then presented offerings to veteran comedians and concluded the first session of the event. Following that, the association held a conference as the second session of the event to discuss development programmes and work plans. — MNA/TH
