Rakhine State govt honours top students in 2023-2024 matric exams

The Rakhine State government honoured those who excelled in the matriculation examination in the 2023-24 academic year, according to sources close to the state government.
In the 2023-24 academic year, 8,644 students from Rakhine State sat the examination, and 5,253 passed, with a pass rate of 60.77 per cent. The excellent students include 22 with six distinctions, 52 with five distinctions, 75 with four distinctions, 106 with three distinctions, 186 with two distinctions and 862 with one distinction. Despite being in various conditions, the state government organized an event on 18 July to worthily honour these students.
In Rakhine State, there were 18,934 registered students, but 8,644 of them actually sat for the examination, and 5,253 of them passed.
Among the successful students, 1379 were from Sittway, 20 from Ponnagyun, 22 from Pauktaw, 49 from Yathedaung, 14 from MraukU, seven from Kyauktaw, seven from Minbya, 196 from Myebon, 241 from Maungtaw, 331 from Buthidaung, 697 from Kyaukpyu, 66 from Yanbye, 555 from Thandwe, 202 from Gwa, 710 from Taungup, 308 from Manaung, 377 from An, and 72 from special programme (Sittway), making a total of 5253.
The Rakhine State Government managed to hold this examination for the benefit of the state’s education amidst various situations such as the storm, fuel issue, accommodation situation and local instability with the cooperation and coordination between education departments and security personnel. — MT/ZN
