Plan underway to grow trees along both sides of roads in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi inspected 45 acres of 1/2020 village firewood plantations established by the Department of Dry Zone Greening and two acres of firewood plantations established by the Forest Department in Natogyi Township of Mandalay Region on 26 June.
Then, the Union Minister visited the Minsontaung Wildlife Sanctuary and instructed the officials of the sanctuary to manage sustainability and greening of sanctuary, especially for domestic species and endangered animals, natural resources for the local populace and conserve Myanmar star tortoises.
Then, the Union Minister viewed the other tree and firewood plantations established by the Dry Zone Greening Department and Forest Department in Kyaukse Township.
The Union Minister met the Mandalay Region Administration Council members yesterday. During the meeting, he discussed growing of trees along both sides of the roads in Mandalay Region for 2021 monsoon, plans to establish village firewood plantations, environmental conservation activities, mining sectors and other cooperation works between the ministry and region administration council.—MNA
