Passengers travel as usual at Yangon (Pansodan-Dala) jetty and 11 motor ferry ports

The passengers use public transportation as usual in Yangon (Pansodan-Dala) Jetty and 11 motor ferry ports in Dala township.
But, an explosion took place in No. 3 Ward, Lanmadaw township, yesterday morning. Consequently, the five motor ferry ports from Dala township to Yangon (Sintohtan) port were temporarily closed for over 40 minutes for the safety of passengers. But some motor ferry ports are regularly operating.
“We have been waiting for over 40 minutes. But, the motor ferry has resumed its operation for the passengers at 7 am. The motor ferries operating from Thanhlyatku port, Kamaraung port, Yaykan port, and Thamada port to Botahtaung jetty and Pansodan jetty are running as usual. The ports are running as usual for the passengers,” said an official from Township Motor Ferry Supervision Committee.
Similarly, the cherry water ferries are also operating along with Dala, Twantay, Kawhmu and Kungyangon townships, Ayeyawady region for the convenience of the residents, monks, Sanghas and nuns. As usual, the passengers are also using public transport, said the official from the Delta Division of Inland Water Transport (IWT).
Currently, the Yangon (Pansodan-Dala) ferries are operating 34 times per day on weekdays. The ferries depart from Dala from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm and from Pansodan from 6:00 am to 7:30 pm.
Besides, the ferries are operating 23 timers per day on weekends. The ferries are aimed to ensure the convenience of the passengers, according to IWT.
The Pansodan-Dala crossing is the only gateway for the local people in southern Yangon — Dala, Twantay, Kawhmu, Kungyangon townships and some townships in the Ayeyawady Region to link the commercial hub of Yangon City. — Naing Lin Kyaw (IPRD)/GNLM
