Through networking, parahita groups have prepared to provide helps and rescues if floods will continue in Myanmar.

Since flood broke out in Myitkyina and nearby areas, they have started providing necessary helps for flood-affected people by networking and now they have made preparations to go to affected-areas where they can reach if necessary.

“We made sure readiness for boats and water pumps since the early monsoon. In Myitkyina flood, we helped in connecting with local parahita groups when we received calls for help. We wish the flooded water weakens when they flow down the lower part of the country. If water flows down, the network of parahita groups is strong in Magway. I’m worried about Hinthada because there are people living beside dam. We’ve prepared for it,” said Yangon-based Shwe Myitta parahita group chair Daw Shwe Le.

At present, parahita groups have worked through networking and also provided donations to flood-affected areas, she said.

“Myitkyina’s flood is caused by mountain stream and the water will drop back when we arrive there, so we’ve prepared for assistances that local parahita groups would need. But they could deal on their own, without needing our support. We can help locals in giving advice for how they can contact local parahita groups. We have prepared to providing helps in making network or going in person to cooperate with them if they need our workforce,” she said.
