Pagodas, including Shwedagon, overflow with pilgrims on Waso Full Moon Day

Pagodas in Yangon, including Shwedagon Pagoda, were thronged with pilgrims performing good deeds, as yesterday was the full moon day of Waso (Dhammacakka Day), which is a sacred day for Buddhists.
The board of trustees of the Shwedagon Pagoda celebrated the Dhammacakka Day ceremony at the designated places of the pagoda at 5 am yesterday. The pagoda board of trustees, staff and devotees first offered dawn meals, flowers, water, candles and fruits to the pagoda.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, relevant officials, members of religious organizations and the devotees offered golden lotus robes to the Buddha statues of the pagoda before taking Nine Precepts and donating Waso robes and offerings to Sayadaws. They also offered day meals to members of the Sangha.
Similarly, the Waso robe offering ceremony was also organized at Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda on the same morning. The pagoda board of trustees of other famous pagodas in Yangon Region also marked Dhammacakka Day. — Ko Ko Zaw/TRKM
