Excursionists pose for a commemorative photo in Singapore.

As per the instruction made by State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, a total of 30 outstanding students — who passed the 2024 matriculation exam with colourful results in their respective majoring subjects — were arranged to go on a foreign excursion under the State-sponsored programme from 9 to 13 August for having domestic and foreign experiences, and to develop patriotism and nationalism.
Outstanding students visited Thailand from 9 to 10 August. They arrived in Singapore on 11 August and visited the Myanmar Embassy and Merlion Park. The team visited the Botanic Garden on 12 August.
The personnel from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) gave a warm welcome to Myanmar’s outstanding students, and Ms Celia Her from the SIM explained the institute to the students at the SIM Heritage Gallery. The two sides took a photo there.
Dr Timothy Chan, Vice-Provost of the SIM, then gave a welcome speech at the theatre. Myanmar Chargé d’Affaires ai to Singapore U Zaw Zaw Soe delivered a thankful speech. Dr Liam Kim Yang also explained to the students the subjects that can be studied at the university.
Then, one Myanmar student from the university shared his experiences with the outstanding Myanmar students, and both sides discussed the topic with questions and answers.
Gifts were mutually exchanged, and the Myanmar Student Ambassadors of the SIM led the orientation sessions to the university library, sports ground, wellness centre, and canteen as part of the Campus Tour. In the afternoon, outstanding students arrived at the Garden by the Bay and observed the Flower Dome and SEA Aquarium. The students also visited Sentosa Island to sightsee the tourist destinations and enjoyed the Wings of the Time.
The excursion group arrived at the Changi Airport at 9:30 am yesterday and enjoyed shopping at the Jewel Shopping Centre.
The group departed for Myanmar with the Myanmar National Airlines and arrived in Yangon in the afternoon. Respective personnel, school principals, teachers and parents welcomed their return at the airport.
The State Administration Council Chairman and Prime Minister offered outstanding awards at the Myanmar International Convention Centre on 22 July to students who passed the matriculation exam with all distinctions. Thirty of them with the highest scores were engaged in excursion trips. — MNA/TMT
