Health awareness among students, from primary to high school, is crucial for reducing the spread of infectious diseases. Teaching students about health is challenging, but if they understand the importance of controlling infections, they will follow the necessary precautions.
Schools, as communities of teachers, staff, and students, are ideal for disseminating health knowledge. Teachers play a vital role in guiding students to adhere to health guidelines. According to the 2019 interim census, over 900,000 out of 25.169 million people in the country had never attended school. About 12.84 million had completed primary and pre-primary education, 5.46 million finished middle school, and over 3.34 million graduated from high school.
Given these numbers, raising health awareness in basic education schools is essential. Students can then share this knowledge with their families. Health officials and staff from Township Public Health Departments should conduct educational talks on the dangers of infectious diseases, personal hygiene, and safe food practices for students.
Medical teams must provide healthcare services to children under five in schools and intensify efforts to control malaria, dengue fever, and diarrhea among students. Preventive measures against mosquito and fly larvae should also be implemented. Educating students on personal hygiene, conducting medical checkups, and promoting oral hygiene are necessary steps. Additionally, parents should be encouraged to maintain a clean environment.
Actually, basic education schools at different levels play a critical role in promoting health awareness among students. Through comprehensive health education and proactive healthcare services, students can learn to protect themselves and their communities from infectious diseases. This combined effort of teachers, health officials, parents and health officials is vital in ensuring a healthy future for all students.
Moreover, health officials need to take preventive measures of diseases based on mosquitos and flies and explain how to engage daily lifestyle to be free from infectious diseases including diarrhoea disease with the help of teachers. If they can improve health conditions of school society as well as residential areas of the people, people including children can be free from infectious diseases which may mostly break out in monsoon. Only when schoolchildren have the chance to enjoy medical checkup and health awareness raised by health officials will the country build the society with healthy and fit youths in the future. Those healthy and fit youths will be ready to serve the State responsibilities at different levels.
