Newly Rebuilt Mingala Market: 51% construction completion for 5 above-ground floors, 2 underground floors

The newly rebuilt Mingala Market has completed 51 per cent of the construction work on two underground floors and five floors above ground.
The Minister for Development of Yangon Region government and the Yangon City Development Committee Chairman (Mayor) and party visited the construction site of a 15-storey building (two underground and 15 above ground) located at the corner of Banyadala Road and Satyon Road in Mingala Taungnyunt Township on 25 September.
The construction of the new Mingala Market is scheduled to be completed by the end of April 2024. According to the Yangon City Development Committee’s Market Department, some of the stalls that have been built will be open for sale at the beginning of next year.
The newly built Mingala Market, initiated in 2019, has been under construction since September and features over 5,000 stores, 21 elevators, and parking facilities accommodating more than 700 vehicles. This 17-storey building will include movie theatres, restaurants, banks, and supermarkets.
After completion of all construction work, approximately 4,000 vendors who originally operated in the stalls will be resettled. The market’s fifth floor will be medicine and medical supplies, the sixth floor will be clothes and textiles, the seventh floor will be cosmetics, and the eighth floor will be fancy materials and textiles. Additionally, there will be warehouses on the ninth and tenth floors, mini-offices on the eleventh and twelfth floors, and movie theatres on the thirteenth floor.
Individuals interested in purchasing stalls can obtain detailed information by inquiring at the Market Department of the YCDC. — TWA/KZW
