Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair Mayor U Than Tun Oo delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony of the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities in China yesterday.
He emphasized that the newly formed alliance holds significant potential for boosting the global economy. Besides tourism, Myanmar and China share numerous other areas of cooperation. He extended an invitation to member countries and capitals within the group to enhance collaboration in both tourism and other developmental endeavours with Myanmar. Furthermore, he encouraged them to explore Myanmar’s cultural and natural treasures, including Bagan’s World Heritage Site, Inlay Lake, Nay Pyi Taw’s Gems Emporium, and Maravijaya Buddha Image. As member cities, he stressed the importance of environmental protection alongside tourism promotion. He also underscored the need to preserve and safeguard their respective traditional cultural heritages to foster a sustainable tourism industry that will benefit future generations.
The alliance was formed with 58 member cities, including 36 capital cities from 25 countries in Europe, Africa and America, 22 cities from China and Nay Pyi Taw. — MNA/KZW
