Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy U Khin Maung Win inspected natural gas-fired power stations in Yangon Region on 10 November.
The Deputy Minister first visited inspect Hlawga Natural Gas Power Station in Mingaladon Township. Officials from the power station explained to the Deputy Minister about the particulars the power station, annual power generation status, maintenance works conducted, power distribution through the national grid, upgrading and modification of the power plant by Golden Green Energy Co, Ltd and sub-station upgrade works conducted with JICA loan.
The Deputy Minister then inspected the Control Room, GIS E-house, upgrading work of 33 kV Switchyard with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), power generation from 50 MW MCP power station and power distribution plan.
Next, the Deputy Minister went to Ywama Natural Gas Power Station in Insein Township and inspected the upgrade works on sub-station conducted with JICA loan. The Deputy Minister then went on to inspect the construction of a new 151 MW power station in Ahlon Township, construction status of a new 350 MW power station and a 25 MW Combine Cycle Power Plant constructed with JICA loan in Thilawa Natural Gas Power Station in Kyauktan Township.
Afterwards, the Deputy Minister inspected the construction sites of 400 MW LNG to Power power-station and 66 kV GIS sub-station constructed with JICA loan in the compound of Thakayta Natural Gas Power Station.
While inspecting the power stations the Deputy Minister said seven new power station projects were being implemented in Magway, Shwetaung, Kyunchaung, Ahlon, Kyaukpyu, Thanlyin and Thakayta to meet the rising consumption of electricity in the forthcoming summer and remarked on the requirement for continuously inspecting and maintaining the power stations to generate at full capacity. —MNA
