Sembcorp Industries announced that it had resumed operations of Sembcorp Myingyan Independent Power Plant in Myingyan, Mandalay Region, following the temporary suspension stated on 12 August.
The statement said that as the conflicts around the vicinity of the plant have ceased, it is back to operational, aligned with the Electricity Power Generation Enterprise.
The temporary suspension will not have a material impact on Sembcorp’s earnings per share and net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2024.
It is operated under a build-operate-transfer agreement between the company and the Ministry of Electric Power. It is one of the largest gas-fired independent power plants in Myanmar, helping to meet the country’s growing electricity demand. — GNLM
