Myat Mawtin Pagoda maintenance works hit 95 per cent completion

The expansion and construction of the platform of Maha Makutaramthi Myat Mawtin Pagoda in Hainggyikyun, Ayeyawady Region, have completed by 95 per cent and will be 100 per cent completed before the next pagoda festival season, according to U Kyaw Swa Win, a member of the pagoda board of trustees.
The works involve reconstruction of the archways, four stairways, and extension of the religious halls and shelters.
The maintenance of the pagoda platform, the banner post, the construction of the retaining walls between upper and lower terraces, the placing of concrete, repairing of the northern arch, the passage leading to the beach, and plans to build the walls of lake were underway. All of the work started in November 2022 and is now 95 per cent complete. It will be completed fully in early March before the next pagoda festival season,” U Kyaw Swa Win said.
The Myat Mawtin Pagoda Buddha Pujaniya Festival is held every year from the 1st Waxing of Tabaung to the Full Moon of Tabaung. At present, approximately 200 travellers visit the pagoda daily. — ASH/ TMT
