Myanmar’s Union Minister calls on Cambodian Senate President and Prime Minister

Union Minister of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office No 2 U Ko Ko Hlaing paid a working visit to Cambodia from 31 July to 2 August 2024 as a Special Envoy of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
While in Phnom Penh on 1 August 2024, the Special Envoy held a courtesy meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Senate Palace and paid a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Borvor Thapadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
During the meetings, the Special Envoy shared the recent developments in Myanmar, the implementation of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus in line with the Five-Point Road Map of the State Administration Council, as well as the preparation to hold a free and fair election in Myanmar. Besides, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further enhancement of the existing ties of friendship between the two countries, prospects for the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas, including tourism, connectivity and culture, closer collaboration at both regional and multilateral arenas as well as the possible activities to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of Myanmar-Cambodia diplomatic relations in 2025.
In the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation led by the Special Envoy also attended the luncheon hosted by First Vice-Chairman Mr Park Sokhonn of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia. — MNA
