Myanmar workers in HK, Macau informed of 2% income tax

According to the announcement by the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Hong Kong, Myanmar citizens residing in Hong Kong and Macau must pay a two per cent income tax.
Beginning on 2 January, Myanmar citizens in Hong Kong and Macau who hold PJ or PS passports will be eligible to pay income taxes.
Furthermore, income tax payment will be a prerequisite for processing passport renewal and consular procedures.
Approximately 5,000 Myanmar citizens live in Hong Kong and Macau, working at manufacturing factories, hotels, restaurants, and casinos.
Similarly, income tax collection has begun at the Myanmar Embassies in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia. — TWA/MKKS
