Myanmar women’s team sails into semifinal with 1-0 win over Singapore

Myanmar women’s football team already advanced to the semifinal of the SEA Games women’s football tourney after beating Singapore team 1-0 in the Group B.
The Myanmar team beat Singapore and missed out on the first place in the group due to a narrow result.
Thailand earned the top position of the group and also reached semifinal after trouncing Laos.
The Myanmar team played with their advantage from the beginning but their finishing works were weak. Team players struggled to score due to their inability to surpass Singapore’s defensive moves till the 90th minute-mark.
In the first half, Myanmar team had three chances to score but Win Theingi Tun and Khin Malar Tun could not transform them into goals.
In the second half, Myanmar team changed players and attacked hard, but struggled to score and won the game only after the injury time.
The goal was scored by striker Win Theingi Tun in 90 + 4 minutes.
The semi-finals will continue on 18 May, with Myanmar taking on host Vietnam, and Thailand is facing the Philippines.—Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
