Myanmar Tourism Bank offers travel loans for domestic and international trips

According to U Kyaw Thura Win, Chief Loan Officer of the Myanmar Tourism Bank (MTB), the MTB is providing travel loans in collaboration with travel agencies for enthusiastic travellers interested in domestic and foreign trips.
“We offer travel loans for domestic trips and international destinations such as Bodh Gaya, Bangkok, Sri Lanka, and China. While the MTB does not directly grant travel loans for foreign trips, we manage them in partnership with pilgrimage tour agencies. These agencies are responsible for the loans and must provide collateral as per banking procedures to secure the loan amount. For domestic tour agencies, we issue loans if applicants submit loan applications either as groups or individually, provided the respective department or company guarantees them. The loan period is one year,” stated U Kyaw Thura Win.
Additionally, those with a monthly income can purchase domestic or foreign travel packages from tour companies using MTB travel loans by connecting with MTB. This travel loan programme has been in place since the 2023-24 financial year, with 65 individuals having received foreign and domestic loans so far, in accordance with the Central Bank of Myanmar’s procedures. Moreover, it is expected that those with savings in the Myanmar Tourism Bank will withdraw travel loans for the next travel season.
