Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation concludes 9-day visit to India

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla returned from India yesterday after concluding a 9-day goodwill visit which began on 25 July, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
On 2 August morning, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party donated flowers, water, oil lamps and Waso robe to the Buddha Image at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India. They also paid homage to the Image of the Buddha-to-be on the upper terrace of the temple before visiting the Mahabodhi Tree in the compound of the temple where they offered gold leaves.
They also paid homage to Buddha images in the Bodh Gaya Park, and donated cash for the Mahabodhi Temple.
The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation proceeded to the Myanmar monastery in Gaya. First, they took the Five Precepts from the leading monk of the monastery, and donated Waso robe and cash to the abbot before they shared merits and offered “soon” (day meal) to members of the Sangha.
Later, they went to Rajgir, an ancient city in Bihar State and looked around significant sites in the Buddha chronicle (chronicle of Buddha’s life).
After concluding the visits, the Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation left Gaya Airport on yesterday morning. They were seen off by the Myanmar Military Attaché(Army, Navy and Air Force) to India Brig-Gen Thein Zaw and his wife, and Brigadier General Niranjan Kuman from the Officers Training Academy (Gaya) and his wife at the airport.
The Senior General and party arrived back at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport on yesterday afternoon.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
