Myanmar takes centre stage at ASEAN Day 2024 in Bangkok

The 57th Anniversary of ASEAN Day was celebrated in Bangkok at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Myanmar making a notable contribution to the festivities on 8 August 2024. The occasion celebrated ASEAN’s enduring unity and achievements, and Myanmar was prominently involved in the festivities.
The event, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok of Thailand, featured a grand flag-hoisting ceremony and exhibitions showcasing the rich cultures of ASEAN member countries. The Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok, represented by Ambassador U Chit Swe, participated actively in the event.
At the Myanmar Embassy’s exhibition booth, a variety of prominent Myanmar cultural artefacts were displayed. Highlights included traditional arts and crafts, musical instruments, traditional attire, and Myanmar’s unique culinary delights. These exhibits provided visitors with a vibrant glimpse into Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage.
The celebrations were attended by several distinguished guests, including Thailand’s Foreign Minister Mr Maris Sangiampongsa, Permanent Secretary Mrs Eksiri Pintaruchi, and senior diplomats from ASEAN member countries. The event also saw the participation from officials of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as middle school students from Thailand, who engaged in the flag-hoisting ceremony. — ASH/KZL
