The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that U Aung Myo Myint, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), attended a discussion on collaboration between ASEAN and Hong Kong in the sectors of investment, finance, technology and innovation, and tourism. The event took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15 May.
Mr Andrew Leung, Chairman of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, along with permanent representatives of ASEAN countries, also attended the event.
The report states that Mr Andrew Leung’s delegation met with ASEAN permanent representatives in Indonesia as part of his working visits to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore to promote ties between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and ASEAN member states.
During the discussion, both sides explored collaboration opportunities in investment, finance, technology and innovation, and tourism sectors between ASEAN and Hong Kong. They also discussed priority sectors to be implemented in 2024 by Laos, the ASEAN alternate chair, and the potential for entering the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. — ASH/TMT
