Myanmar hands over ASEAN Committee chairmanship to the Philippines

Myanmar Ambassador to China U Tin Maung Swe signs to hand over the chairmanship of the ACB to the Philippines Ambassador to China Jaime A FlorCruz.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Myanmar handed over the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Beijing (ACB) to the Philippines on 18 July at the Intercontinental Beijing Sanlitun Hotel in Beijing.

During the meeting, ASEAN state ambassadors and representatives approved the summary record of the ACB meeting hosted by Malaysia on 8 February 2024. They also discussed development in ASEAN-China dialogue relations. Additionally, representatives from respective ASEAN countries briefly reviewed the progress in bilateral relations with China over the past six months and exchanged views on regional developments. The Chairmanship of the ACB was then officially handed over to Jaime A FlorCruz for the term from July to December 2024. — ASH/TMT
