The Myanmar Embassy in Singapore has announced that within 4 days, around 200 Myanmar people will be provided with passport extension services.

The list covers the people who can extend their passports from 5 to 8 August 2024, among those who had difficulty in obtaining an online appointment for the extension or their residence permit was less than 14 months.

From 5 to 8 August, the service will be provided to 48 persons per day. Those who want to renew their passports must come to the embassy by 10:00 am and bring original/copies of passports, IC cards and completed forms with a photo on the appointment date. The service won’t be available beyond the deadline, necessitating a separate application.

Fake documents or making submission through agents won’t be considered for extension and the embassy warned that any private service companies or agents are not permitted to provide this service and make a waiting list for submitting documents to the embassy’s WhatsApp.

For submitting to the embassy’s WhatsApp, two submissions at most can be made per day but the embassy reminds of no more submission on next days, if a person sends again, he/she will be re-positioned at the back of the current waiting list. Applicants should wait whether they are included in the list to be announced on the embassy’s website in a week. Myanmar nationals aged 65 years and above in Singapore are not required to seek reservation on the embassy’s website or Whatsapp, but the embassy will provide the passport extension service for them as a privilege and they can come in person on mornings. – MT/ZN
